We are pleased to have sculptor/fiber, basketry, and installation artist Lanny Bergner come all the way from Anacortes, Washington to East Carolina University for the Screenplay events on September 7th, 2012. Mr. Bergner will jury the show for awards before doing a demonstration for students. At 5pm, he will present a lecture on the development of his work at Mendenhall Student Center followed by an Awards Reception in the Art Gallery at 6.
Lanny Bergner received his BFA in sculpture from the University of Washington in 1981, and in 1983 received his MFA in sculpture from Tyler School of Art. He spent 13 years in Philadelphia following graduation exhibiting extensively on the East Coast and Midwest before returning to the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Bergner is represented by a number of galleries and exhibits his award winning work nationally and internationally. In 2005 he received the Gold Prize at the 4th Annual Cheongju International Craft Biennale, Cheongju, Korea. During FiberPhiladelphia2012, his work was featured in Wire Transference at Philadelphia University and the 8th International Fiber Biennial at Snyderman-Works Gallery.
